My Travel Beauty Non-Negotiables

It's one of the first questions I ask every guest on The Beauty Sessions Podcast: what beauty products do you actually travel with? Not what you think you should pack, and not the aspirational line-up. I mean the real, considered edit that earns its place in your suitcase. After three and a half weeks navigating the charming quiet of the Cotswolds and the buzz of London, I've had plenty of opportunities to test my own answer to that question.
Travel has a way of clarifying what you actually need. The products you reach for at home out of habit can suddenly feel excessive when you're living out of a suitcase. What remains are the genuine essentials: the ones that work across climates, time zones and the inevitable shifts in your skin caused by long-haul flights and changing routines. These are the products that made the cut and the ones I now consider non-negotiable for any trip.
The Nue Company First Milk Functional Fragrance

Finding a fragrance that works across both the English countryside and city streets isn't easy, but First Milk managed it effortlessly. The blend of almond milk, tonka bean and iris, with a whisper of pink pepper, creates a soft, skin-close warmth that feels comforting without being heavy. It dries down to a cocoon of amber and cypriol that melts into the skin beautifully.
I wore this every day across both settings, and it never felt out of place. It was warm and intimate enough for cool Cotswolds mornings, yet light enough for warmer London afternoons. It's the rare scent that genuinely works year-round.
Avène Thermal Spring Water Spray

This is my non-negotiable plane essential. After cleansing and before my skincare routine, a generous mist of Avène helps reset my skin and counter the dehydration that comes with hours of recirculated air. The thermal water is soothing and gentle enough for compromised skin, which is exactly what you need when you're trying to land looking like a human rather than a deflated balloon.
It's not glamorous, but it's effective—and exactly the kind of product that earns a place in my travel bag.
CeraVe Moisturising Lotion

Speaking of unglamorous essentials that simply work, CeraVe deserves its reputation. There's a reason this lotion has achieved cult status among dermatologists and beauty editors alike. The ceramide-rich formula does the foundational work of repairing the skin barrier without any of the fuss or fragrance that can irritate sensitive skin while travelling.
It's the reliable base layer that makes everything else in your routine work better. At this price point, you can use it generously without guilt.
Augustinus Bader The Rich Cream

If CeraVe is the workhorse, Augustinus Bader is the luxury layer that elevates the entire routine. The Rich Cream layered over CeraVe creates the perfect combination: deep hydration paired with that signature Bader glow.
Travel can leave skin looking dull and depleted, and this is the product that brings it back to life. The patented TFC8 technology delivers visible results, but more importantly, it feels indulgent in a way that transforms hotel skincare moments into genuine self-care rather than simple maintenance.
U Beauty The Super Intensive Face Oil

This face oil has earned its place as the final step in my skincare routine, and it works particularly hard when I travel. A few drops pressed into the skin seal everything in and deliver a glow that lasts through long days of meetings and dinners.
My favourite trick is applying an extra layer and massaging it into my brows to encourage growth. It's the kind of multipurpose, results-driven product that makes you wonder why you'd carry anything designed for a single purpose.
Vaseline Lip Therapy Original Tin

Some beauty essentials never get replaced, no matter how many luxury alternatives launch. The original Vaseline Lip Therapy tin has been with me on every trip I can remember.
It's the most effective lip treatment I've ever used, full stop. It heals chapped lips overnight, works beautifully as a base under lip colour, and the tin format means it never leaks or breaks in your bag. Some things become classics for a reason.
Rhode Peptide Eye Prep Patches

These have become my secret weapon for both plane travel and hotel mornings. On a flight, they're a hydrating, depuffing treatment that makes cabin air feel a little less brutal. Once I check in, I keep a stash in the hotel minibar or mini fridge so they're cold and ready whenever I need an instant refresh.
Whether it's pre-meeting preparation or post-late-night recovery, they deliver that smoothed, brightened, awake look that's almost impossible to achieve any other way.
Copini Beauty Freckle Pen in Bambi

This is the product that surprised me most on this trip. The Freckle Pen in Bambi adds the most delicate, natural-looking freckles, making you feel polished with minimal effort.
There's something about a scattering of freckles that feels effortlessly pretty, as though you've spent time outdoors rather than in front of a mirror. The formula is precise and long-wearing, and I'm hoping Copini Beauty launches darker shades soon to expand the range. For now, it's become an essential finishing touch.
The Heaven Mayhem Travel Case

I first spotted this on founder Pia Mance's feed as she teased it for months, and I knew I had to have one. Made from vegan leather, this little case has become my favourite multipurpose organiser. It moves effortlessly between desk, bedside table, and travel bag.
I have it in Skye, a soft light blue that adds a welcome pop of colour to my bag, a small detail that feels particularly chic right now. On this trip, it held my lip liners, freckle pens, writing pen and wired headphones—the kind of everyday essentials that somehow always end up lost at the bottom of a bag.
It's one of those rare accessories that genuinely earns its place by making everything else easier to find.
The truth about packing beauty for a long trip is that you quickly learn what you actually use versus what you carry around out of guilt. These products earned their place not because they're the most expensive or the most Instagrammable, but because they work reliably, beautifully, and without fuss.
Which is, ultimately, what the best beauty products should do.
