Trusting Your Energy as It Expands
A gentle reflection on growth that honours both movement and rest.

You may notice yourself feeling more motivated? Are ideas coming to you more easily? There might be a desire to reconnect with people, start projects, or simply move through life with a little more momentum.
Expansion can feel wonderful, but it can also feel slightly uncomfortable if you’re not used to it.
When we’ve spent a long period in survival mode or deep healing, increased energy can almost feel suspicious at first. Part of us welcomes it, while another part wonders how long it will last.
Learning to trust this returning energy is an important part of the healing process.
When Energy Starts Returning
After periods of exhaustion, burnout, or emotional processing, the body and nervous system begin rebuilding their capacity slowly.
At first, this may show up in subtle ways. You might feel more present in your day. Tasks that once felt overwhelming start to feel manageable again. You may notice yourself laughing more easily or feeling curious about things that once felt draining.
These are signs that your system is beginning to feel safer and more resourced. But because we live in a culture that often celebrates constant productivity, there is a risk that we interpret this returning energy as a signal to immediately do more.
To fill the calendar again.
To say yes to everything.
To prove that we’re “back.”
The truth is that expansion does not mean abandoning everything you learned about balance during your slower seasons.
Growth Without Returning to Burnout
One of the most important things to remember during periods of expansion is that growth does not need to come at the expense of your wellbeing.
You can allow your energy to increase without immediately pushing it to its limits.
This is where self-awareness becomes incredibly valuable. When you’ve taken time to reconnect with your body and nervous system, you begin to notice when something feels supportive and when something begins to feel draining again.
Instead of rushing forward simply because you can, you begin moving in ways that feel sustainable.
You still pursue the things that inspire you and you can still follow ideas and opportunities, but you remain connected to your capacity.
You allow your energy to expand without abandoning the boundaries that helped you heal in the first place. This is so important to remember!

Letting Expansion Be Gentle
Growth doesn’t always have to look dramatic from the outside either.
Sometimes expansion is simply the ability to participate in life again without feeling overwhelmed by it. Sometimes it’s saying yes to something that once felt impossible. Other times it’s the quiet confidence that you can trust yourself to navigate what comes next.
When you allow expansion to unfold gently, it becomes something that supports you rather than something that exhausts you.
Your energy begins to feel more stable, more reliable and you trust that rest and movement can coexist, and that both are part of living in alignment.
My Takeaway
When your energy begins to return, you don’t need to rush to prove anything to anyone.
Expansion is not a race. It’s a gradual opening.
Allow yourself to move forward whilst staying connected to the rhythms that helped you rebuild your strength. You can grow, create, and participate in life without abandoning the care you’ve learned to give yourself.
Before journaling, pause for a moment and notice how your energy feels today.
